Musie Girmay, a senior at Edward W. Clark High School, is the winner of Carter Cullen\u2019s 6th annual college scholarship essay contest.<\/em><\/p>\n

El\u00a0Las Vegas personal injury law firm<\/a> Carter Cullen is pleased to announce that Musie Girmay, a senior at Edward W. Clark High School, is the winner of the firm\u2019s 6th annual college scholarship essay contest. As the winner of the essay contest, Girmay received a $3,000 college scholarship.<\/p>\n

The essay contest was for participating senior high school students and started on October 10th, 2017 and ran through January 31st, 2018. The topic this year was \u201cLas Vegas was recently the site of one of the worst mass shootings in modern U.S. history.\u00a0 People have expressed concerns over the number and type of guns and equipment the shooter may have legally obtained and used to carry out this despicable act.\u00a0 Others take the position that it is unfair to blame anyone or anything other than the shooter.\u00a0 How do you balance the Second Amendment\u2019s right to bear arms with issues of public safety?<\/p>\n

Musie Girmay first developed an interest in in law when he entered high school. \u00a0He loved taking courses related to economic policy and government. He hasn\u2019t decided where he will be going to college in the fall, but he plans to major in Economics.<\/p>\n

Girmay is an outstanding student who has already excelled in his academic career with a 4.8 GPA. In his spare time, he enjoys doing community service related activities, reading, and playing sports. Since entering high school, he has been involved in the National Honor Society, Model U.N., Key Club, Speech and Debate, Future Business Leaders of America, and Delta Epsilon Chi (DECA).<\/p>\n

Girmay found out about the essay contest through The Public Education Foundation\u2019s website. \u00a0He was intrigued by the essay topic, as he felt that it addressed a pressing issue within our society.<\/p>\n

Carter Cullen donated the generous scholarship with the intention of guiding a high school student who has an interest in pursuing a career in the legal field. The firm is proud of Musie and is pleased that he is the winner of the contest.<\/p>\n

The sixth annual scholarship essay contest proved once again to be a success with over 250 applications. Carter Cullen once again looking forward to continuing the tradition of supporting future students.<\/p>\n
